News: ASUU Asks FG To Accept “UTAS” Salary Payment Platform (A MUST READ)

The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU Nsukka Zone has urged the Federal Government to certify and adopt its University and Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) salary payment scheme.

The University lectures asked that the platform should be domesticated for the Nigerian university system. The position of ASUU comes on the heels of the Federal government’s insistence that the universities must be registered on the Integrated Payment and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) before they can be paid.

Negotiations between ASUU and The FG have lingered with students out of school for almost an entire session.

Even when ASUU said it was concerned about the situation and what it portends for the future of tertiary education in the country; the union said it will not back down.

The university association’s Zonal coordinator Igbana Ajir outrightly rejected what he termed as obnoxious and non-functional programmes of the Federal Government.

He said government refusal to accept an alternative platform for payment of its benefits calls for serious concern.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities Nsukka Zone comprises 8 institutions of higher learning from Enugu, Taraba, Kogi and Benue State.
